It’s baseball season! I got asked to shoot a game last night for the paper, and man the weather was perfect.
Calloway County’s Andy Fraher attempts to slide home against St. Mary’s catcher Jon Darnell as head coach Zach Hobbs looks on. Fraher was tagged out before he could tag home plate.

Photo: Sorry to hear of the passing of MSU student Daniel Milam… I didn’t know him but my camera did from this shot in 2009 for the Murray Ledger & TImes. He was rehearsing his part in “The 12 Days of Christmas” for the Madrigal Dinner held every December. He was very active in the theater community, and I know will be missed.

Concert: The talented Ella Mae Bowen (@ellamaebowen) performed at Lovett Live tonight. She mostly played her own creations but also did a cover of the New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give” that was awesome, even if she did leave out the last little bit where he gets all fast and starts politicizing, haha.

Headshot: MSU President Dr. Randy Dunn
Earlier in the year I was hired by Murray State to take an updated headshot of Dunn. At the time, it was unknown whether or not the board of regents would renew his contract and he had applications in at other universities just in case. He was still very much MSU’s president though, and acted that way.
On Friday, March 15, 2013, the Murray State Board of Regents voted 7-4 in favor of letting Dunn’s contract expire.
I’ve only gotten to work and interact with him a few times since he’s been here but I’ve mostly been a fan of what he has done for the University. My biggest praise comes in how he was interactive with the student body. Much like the previous president could be occasionally found playing pick-up basketball in the student wellness center, Dunn could be occasionally found playing his trombone with the Racer pep band. Some presidents might hide in their lofty office away from the common student, but Dunn was way more accessible and I appreciated that.
I don’t know all the details surrounding this decision and I am not sure what the future holds for Dr. Dunn or MSU, but i hope both are able to find the best out of the situation. It will be sad to see him go.

Belmont’s Blake Jenkins slams home a dunk in the opening seconds of the Bruins’ semifinal game against Tennessee State after stealing the ball from TSU’s Robert Covington.
Down in Nashville shooting the OVC tournament… Belmont/TSU is a killer game!!

Photo: Jordan Burge, walk-on player for 4 years at Murray State, got to start his final home game as a Racer after Isaiah Canaan, All-American and fellow senior, gave up his starting spot… Burge is pictured here during player introductions. This is what makes the game, and this team, so awesome. Stuff like this.

Strange game tonight, Racers went down to the 8-19 Skyhawks. Thought this pic of Brandon Garrett and UT-Martin’s Myles Taylor grapple for a rebound pretty much sums it up. Phew.
